A refrigerator according to the present invention comprises a carbonated water tank storing carbonated water; a water level sensor sensing the level of the carbonated water stored in the carbonated water tank; a water tank supplying purified water to the carbonated water tank; a carbon dioxide cylinder supplying carbon dioxide to the carbonated water tank; and a control part manufacturing the carbonated water by supplying the purified water to the carbonated water tank when the level of the carbonated water is sensed to be lower than or equal to a predetermined minimum water level by the water level sensor, and by supplying the carbon dioxide to the carbonated water tank when the supply of the purified water is finished, wherein the control part controls the water level sensor to sense the level of the carbonated water stored in the carbonated water tank when the carbonated water is discharged. According to the present invention, the refrigerator manufactures the carbonated water automatically when the storage amount of the carbonated water is predicted to be reduced or a user is predicted not to use the carbonated water for a while, thereby allowing the user not to wait while the carbonated water is manufactured.
