发明名称 Improvements in or relating to water solubilized vitamin compositions
摘要 A lipoid soluble, normally water-insoluble and substantially fat-free vitamin, e.g. vitamin A, D, E and K is solubilized by means of a water-soluble hydroxy-polyoxyethylene ether, containing 10 to 150 oxyethylene groups to the molecule, of a long chain aliphatic alcohol containing 12 to 22 carbon atoms to the molecule. The hydroxy-polyoxyethylene ethers have a melting point of 40 DEG to 100 DEG C., and preferably 40 DEG to 65 DEG C., and typical examples are hydroxy-10 (15, 23, 45, 105, 150)-oxyethylene lauryl ethers, hydroxy-20-oxyethylene cetyl ether and hydroxy-20-oxyethylene stearyl ether. The vitamin may be dissolved in the molten ether, if desired, in the presence of an inert atmosphere and the solution so formed may then be diluted with water in all proportions. Generally 2 to 20 parts, and preferably 5 to 12 parts, of the ether are used for each part of the vitamin and the final composition contains 2 to 10, and preferably 3 to 8 parts of the ether per 100 parts of the finished solution. The vitamin compositions when dissolved in water may be mixed with water-soluble vitamins, e.g. thiamine, riboflavin, pyridoxine, ascorbic acid, and nicotinic acid or its amide. Viscosity increasing materials, sweetening agents, flavouring agents and colouring agents may be added. The compositions may be incorporated in human and animal foods.ALSO:A vitamin composition for incorporating in animal foods comprises a lipoid-soluble normally water-insoluble and substantially fat free vitamin e.g. A, D, E and K, or a vitamin-containing material, dissolved in a water-soluble hydroxy - polyoxyethylene ether containing 10 to 150 oxyethylene groups to the molecule and being a long chain aliphatic alcohol containing 12 to 22 carbon atoms to the molecule. The polyoxyethylene ethers have a melting point of 40 to 100 DEG C, and preferably 40 to 65 DEG C, and typical examples are hydroxy -10 (-15 23, 45, 105, 150)-oxyethylene lauryl ethers, hydroxy-20-oxyethylene-cetyl and -stearyl ethers and hydroxy-23-oxyethylene oleyl ether. Generally 2 to 20 parts, and preferably 5 to 12 parts, of the ether are used for each part of vitamin. The vitamin may be dissolved in the molten ether, if desired in the presence of an inert atmosphere. An example is given in which the solid produced from vitamin A and hydroxy-23-oxyethylene lauryl ether is incorporated in an animal food containing 90 per cent of a mixture of oil-expressed soyabean meal, alfalfa meal and oatmeal and 10 per cent of a mixture of calcium phosphate, potassium phosphate, sodium chloride and essential trace elements.
