[Also in Group XXV] The tape for a sliding clasp fastener is formed of plastic material, parts being permanently attached on either side thereof along one edge so as to provide a bead. In the form of Fig. 3 the tape 2 has a main portion 7, a neck 8 to provide flexibility and a thickened edge portion 9 formed with opposite channels in which the cords 12, e.g. of woven material, are positioned. In the form of Fig. 5 the cords 17 are secured against curved shoulders 16 of an edge portion 15. The main portions 7 of the tape may be bifurcated forming flaps adapted to embrace the edge of an article to which the fastener is applied. The cords may be attached to the tape during the extrusion thereof as shown in Fig. 8, the cords c entering openings 34 in the die 30 and emerging attached to the tape T. In another form, Fig. 6, the tape is formed integrally with cylindrical edge portions 20. |
