A mobile terminal providing a shortcut key and a shortcut key providing method therefor are provided to enable a user to change functions assigned to an existing side key, selectively. A method for providing a shortcut key of a mobile terminal comprises the followings: displaying the list of menu function items(S303); one of the menu functions is selected(S304); assigning the selected menu function to a key equipped in one side of the main body; and when the key is inputted(S306), the function assigned to the key is executed(S307). |
