Provided are a descaling method and apparatus for a hot rolled steel strip using heat induction which can effectively remove scales from the surface of the hot rolled steel strip, such as low carbon steel, ultra low carbon steel, high strength carbon steel or high carbon steel containing alloy elements such as manganese and silicon, or high carbon steel, which are hot-rolled. The descaling method includes a brushing step of removing a uniform scale layer from the surface of the hot rolled steel strip formed with the scale; an induction heating step of heating the scale of the hot rolled steel strip subjected to the brushing step by a preset temperature; and a descaling step of removing the scale by spraying polishing slurry onto the surface of the hot rolled steel strip heated by induction. Since the present invention replaces a conventional pickling process of the hot rolled steel strip based on hydrochloric acid treatment, it is possible to effectively remove the scale from the surface of the hot rolled steel strip by physical means, in particular pre-treatment of induction heating, without using the chemical solution which leads in the environmental pollution. |
