The device has two longitudinal guides (7, 8) arranged on a base body (1) for displaceably guiding clamping jaws (2, 3). An adjustment mechanism is provided with an adjusting spindle (4) and spindle nuts (5, 6) for counter-rotating adjustment of the two clamping jaws. The spindle nuts are rotatable between a locking position for connection with the clamping jaws and a release position for releasing the clamping jaws. A locking part (28) of the spindle nuts is releasably connected with the clamping jaws through a latching connection.
