The converter has base structures (25, 25', 25'') are arranged in parallel and interconnected between an alternating-current (AC) side and a direct-current (DC) without a DC bus connection, where power of the converter lies in a range about 2-10 megawatt. A DC filter (17) is provided in an input of the base structures. An AC filter (18) is provided in an output of the base structures followed by a transformer network (15) e.g. single-phase current or three-phase current network. A control unit (24) controls the base structures.
