Provided is a method for unfolding an external airbag which determines to unfold an external airbag and comprises setting a sensing area with a certain range; tracking a physical quantity of an object entering the sensing area and updating the physical quantity every measuring cycle of a front sensor; calculating an expected physical quantity every unit time during a measuring cycle; and determining whether to unfold an external airbag based on the calculated physical quantity.
