A detection device for detecting an empty cartridge, which is used on a cartridge that can store liquid crystal glass to detect whether the cartridge stores liquid crystal glass. The detection device comprises: a sensing signal device (31) used to send a sensing signal to the inside of the cartridge (1) and receive a reflection signal from the inside of the cartridge (1); a reflector disposed in the cartridge to receive the sensing signal from the sensing signal device (31) and reflect the sensing signal back to the sensing signal device. Whether the cartridge stores liquid crystal glass is determined based on whether the sensing signal device (31) receives the refection signal from the reflector after sending the sensing signal. On the basis of detecting whether the cartridge stores liquid crystal glass, the detection device prevents impurities from entering and polluting the cartridge.
