PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wire electric discharge machining (EDM) device capable of easily inhibiting the occurrence of fillets, and to provide a wire EDM method.SOLUTION: A wire EDM device 100 includes: an electric discharge wire 5; a dresser 9; and a drive mechanism 20. The electric discharge wire 5 cuts a probe 30 through electric discharge occurring between itself and the probe 30. The electric discharge wire 5 runs in a z axis direction. The drive mechanism 20 moves the probe 30 in an x axis direction. The dresser 9 cuts the electric discharge wire 5 and forms a linear portion at a part of a cross section shape. The step allows the dresser 9 to form a cutting surface in a position of the electric discharge wire 5 where the electric discharge occurs between the electric discharge wire 5 and the probe 30. |
