The method involves controlling a switching unit (106) to increase resistance of a conduction path between an input terminal (101) and an output terminal (102) of a control device (100). Voltage is detected in the control device for detecting a phase position of a supply voltage. The supply voltage is influenced by data to be transmitted depending on the detected phase so as to transmit a data packet. The switching unit is switched to an off state during a zero crossing of the stream. Phase position of the zero crossing of the detected voltage is detected.
