PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for simultaneously measuring both the sound speed and the dielectric constant of gas.SOLUTION: A measuring apparatus comprises: dual cylinder type cavities configured by boring two round through holes having the same diameter into one column-shaped cylinder in its lengthwise direction, lidding both ends with round flanges and fastening the two round flanges with bolts and nuts; a valve mechanism that can form the two cylindrical cavities into an ideal cylindrical shape by opening and closing holes for taking in and discharging sample gas; a sound wave transceiver that measures sound wave resonance characteristics by generating a sound wave in a first cylindrical cavity; and an electromagnetic wave transceiver that measures electromagnetic wave resonance characteristics by generating an electromagnetic wave in a second cylindrical cavity. A length L of the cylindrical cavity determined by measuring the electromagnetic wave resonance characteristics when the inside of the second cylindrical cavity is vacuum is supposed to be the lengths of the two cylindrical cavities. |
