METHOD FOR PRODUCING VINYL CHLORIDE MONOMER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a solid acid catalyst which is used, when 2-chloroethanol is dehydrated by a catalytic reaction to produce a vinyl chloride monomer, and which exhibits higher selectivity.SOLUTION: A method for producing the vinyl chloride monomer by dehydrating 2-chloroethanol by the catalytic reaction using the solid acid catalyst is provided. The solid acid catalyst is phosphorus-containing hydrogen type zeolite and satisfies 1≤P/Al≤10 (P/Al is an atomic ratio of P to Al in the zeolite therein).
