PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain current density in an area within a recording medium, and thereby accurately and easily control a transfer current value even when a length is changed in the width direction of the medium.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus of the present invention comprises: a transfer part which transfers a developer image formed by one or a plurality of image forming parts to a recording medium; a voltage supply part which supplies voltage to the transfer part; a transfer current measuring part which measures a transfer current value when the voltage supply part applies voltage at a prescribed value on the transfer part in a state in which the recording medium is not present at the transfer part; a resistor which is connected in series between the transfer current measuring part and the transfer part; a storage part which stores electrical characteristic information on the recording medium; and a control part which controls a transfer voltage value of the voltage supply part on the basis of a measurement result of the transfer current measuring part, a length in the width direction based on a kind of the recording medium; the electrical characteristic information on the recording medium, and a resistance value of the resistor. |
