A dialysis device with a body and a membrane extending about a peripheral edge of the body

A dialysis device 10 and a method of dialyzing a sample are provided. The dialysis device 10 includes a body 12 defining an inner volume 40 and a peripheral edge 48. A retaining ring 18 extends about the peripheral edge 48. A dialysis membrane 14 is positioned between the peripheral edge 48 and the retaining ring 18 and is held between these two components. The dialysis device 10 is configured to receive a sample to enable dialysis of the sample across the membrane. In one embodiment the body has first and second opposite peripheral edges 48, (Fig. 4, 50) and first and second membranes 14 which are held in place by first and second retaining rings 18. An access opening 24 is also provided that is in fluid communication with the inner volume 40 of the body. Preferably the peripheral edge 48 defines an opening 20, 22 and the membrane 14 covers this opening. A gasket 16 may also be provided that is positioned between the retaining ring 18 and the peripheral edge 48.
