PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image heating device in which even when a generation position of temperature rise at paper non-passing parts is changed due to recording material size change or the like, the temperature rise at paper non-passing parts can be alleviated swiftly without causing unnecessary power consumption or local temperature fall.SOLUTION: A end fan ducts 604, 605 guide ventilation of end fans 601, 602 to a heat equalizing roller 13 while shielding a pressurizing roller 2 from ventilation from the end fans 601, 602. A control part 150 controls a contact/separating mechanism 105 so that when after a continuous heating treatment to the recording material is started in a state that the heat equalizing roller 13 is separated from the pressurizing roller 2, a temperature at an end portion of the pressurizing roller 2 exceeds a prescribed temperature, the heat equalizing roller 13 is brought into press-contact with the pressurizing roller 2. When, after the heat equalizing roller 13 is brought into press-contact with the pressurizing roller 2, a temperature at an end portion of the pressurizing roller 2 exceeds a prescribed temperature, the end fans 602, 602 are actuated. |
