In order to solve the problem of undesirably long heating cycles as well as of peak flame temperatures high enough to damage the refractory material (302; 402; 502; 602; 702), and in order to increase the thermal efficiency of a blast furnace stove (300; 400; 500; 600; 700), a method for heating a blast furnace stove (300; 400; 500; 600; 700) is proposed, with said method comprising
- combusting fuel in a combustion chamber (301; 401; 501; 601; 701) in the stove (300; 400; 500; 600; 700),
- providing combustion gases from the combustion chamber (301; 401; 501; 601; 701) to heat refractory material (302; 402; 502; 602; 702) in the stove (300; 400; 500; 600; 700),
- recirculating exhausted combustion gases into the combustion chamber (301; 401; 501; 601; 701 ),
- enriching the combustion chamber (301; 401; 501; 601; 701) with oxygen in amount sufficient for maintaining combustion, in particular at a temperature below 1400°C, in the combustion chamber (301; 401; 501; 601; 701) without damaging the refractory material (302; 402; 502; 602; 702) in the stove (300; 400; 500; 600; 700). |
