PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera system which can support various operations suitably performed by software control, which can emit light with a small time lag in response to a light emission instruction when accuracy is required for light emission timing, and which is less likely to malfunction due to external conditions.SOLUTION: When a camera is equipped with an external flash unit, the camera and the external flash unit are connected to freely communicate with each other. If the external flash unit is not set in RC mode, the external flash unit does not function as a commander flash unit. In this case, light emission control is performed when a control circuit IC1 recognizes, via software, a signal provided from the camera. On the contrary, if the external flash unit is set in the RC mode, the external flash unit functions as a commander flash unit. In this case, the light emission control is performed when a counter IC2 receives an X signal from the camera. |
