PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a transmission type screen in which scintillation is improved and which can display a favorable image, and a rear projection type display device provided with the same.SOLUTION: A transmission type screen 10 includes: a lens layer 24 which has a curvature shape as if a screen surface forms a curved surface, which is provided on a light incoming side of image light and which has a Fresnel lens shape that deflects the travelling direction of the image light; a light control layer 32 which is provided on a light outgoing side from the lens layer 24, in which a light transmission part 323 transmitting light and a light absorption part 324 absorbing light are arranged alternately along the screen surface and a cross-sectional shape of the light absorption part 324 is substantially wedge-shaped; a first diffusion layer 22 which is provided on the light incoming side from the light control layer 32 and which has a light diffusing action; and a second diffusion layer 33 which is provided on the light outgoing side from the light control layer 32, which has a light diffusing action and whose haze value is larger than that of the first diffusion layer 22.
