摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device and electronic equipment, in which degradation in display qualities caused by aggregation of ionic impurities can be suppressed without disturbing alignment of liquid crystal molecules in an image display region, by optimizing a potential to be applied to an electrode for trapping ionic impurities.SOLUTION: In a VA (vertical alignment) mode liquid crystal device 100, a first electrode 9c and a second electrode 9d are disposed in a peripheral region 10b of an element substrate 10, from an image display region 10a toward a sealing material 107. A potential difference V1 between the inner first electrode 9c and a common electrode 21 is smaller than a potential difference Vfig between a pixel electrode 9a and the common electrode 21. A potential difference V2 between the outer second electrode 9d and the common electrode 21 is larger than the potential difference Vfig between the pixel electrode 9a and the common electrode 21. Thereby, when ionic impurities C in a liquid crystal layer 50 move toward an end of the image display region 10a, the impurities aggregate and stay near the second electrode 9d where a potential intensity is high.
