The present invention relates to a fringe horizontal electric field type liquid crystal display device and a manufacturing method thereof. The fringe horizontal electric field type liquid crystal display device according to the present invention includes: a substrate; a gate wire which is transversely formed on the substrate; a data wire which defines a pixel region across the gate wire; a thin film transistor which is connected to the gate wire and the data wire; a pixel electrode which is connected to the thin film transistor and is formed in the pixel region; a first protective layer which covers the gate wire, the data wire, the pixel electrode, and the thin film transistor; a second protective layer which covers the gate wire, the data wire, the thin film transistor except the pixel region; and a common electrode which overlaps the pixel electrode on the first protective layer in the pixel region. |
