PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods for identifying and evaluating signatures in electroencephalographic oscillations that occur during onset of an exploratory activity in a subject.SOLUTION: A method includes administering a test agent to a subject who is identified as having a cognitive disorder, and determining the presence or absence of a signature in electroencephalographic oscillations recorded from the subject during onset of an exploratory activity engaged in by the subject after having been administered the test agent, wherein the presence of the signature in the electroencephalographic oscillations is indicative of effectiveness of the test agent in treating the cognitive disorder, and wherein the absence of the signature in the electroencephalographic oscillations is indicative of a lack of effectiveness of the test agent in treating the cognitive disorder. |
