PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a turning device for work machines that can achieve a reduction in energy consumption by suppressing the discharge flow rate of a hydraulic pump to the minimum flow rate required for a hydraulic motor, and also can arbitrarily regulate the output of the hydraulic motor by controlling the pressure of pressure oil supplied to the hydraulic motor, and a work machine.SOLUTION: A turning device is configured to be mounted on a work machine having a turning function. The device includes: a hydraulic motor 12 that outputs turning torque; a variable-capacity hydraulic pump 4 that supplies pressure oil to the hydraulic motor and whose capacity can be regulated by a controller 16; a control device 6 that regulates the capacity of the variable-capacity hydraulic pump; and a pressure detecting device 24 that detects the pressure of the hydraulic pump and inputs it to the controller. The controller regulates the capacity of the hydraulic pump so that the pressure of the hydraulic pump inputted from the pressure detecting device becomes predetermined target pressure during turning driving, thereby performing the control of the pressure oil supplied to the hydraulic motor, and consequently suppressing the discharge flow rate of the hydraulic pump to the minimum flow rate required for the hydraulic motor. |
