A shield for a vehicle comprising: €¢ a flexible compliant net subsystem (10) with strands designed to break if struck by a projectile;
€¢ an array of rods (12) on the net subsystem (10), the rods (12) designed and attached to the net subsystem (10) in such a manner that the rods (12) impact an ogive of a projectile striking the shield;
€¢ a frame (16) including mounting brackets (18a-18d) attached thereto positioning the frame (16) in a spaced relationship with respect to a vehicle or structure; and
€¢ the net subsystem (10) being secured to the frame (16).
