PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently purify by-product phenol produced as a by-product in a polycondensation reaction and to re-use the by-product phenol.SOLUTION: In a method for producing a polycarbonate resin in which a dihydroxy compound and diphenyl carbonate are subjected to a polycondensation reaction by a plurality of reactors while distilling away byproduct phenol produced as a by-product in each reactor to the outside of the reaction system, the byproduct phenol is made contact with a phenol-containing liquid having phenol concentration higher than the byproduct phenol to recover as high-purity phenol and a liquid containing a component having a boiling point that is higher than that of phenol is refluxed to the reactors.
