PURPOSE: A method for isolating and purifying 1,3-butanediol and 2,3-butanediol is provided to cheaply isolate and purify high purity of 1,3-butanediol and 2,3-butanediol from a culture medium of microorganisms with high efficiency. CONSTITUTION: A method for isolating and purifying 1,3-butanediol and 2,3-butanediol comprises the steps of: centrifuging and filtering a culture medium of microorganisms which produce 1,3-butanediol and 2,3-butanediol to remove the microorganisms; evaporating the purified liquid containing 70-90% of water at 50-90°C to remove water; concentrating the liquid to obtain a concentrate; adding isopropyl alcohol to the concentrate; filtering the concentrate by compression and removing salts and impurities; distilling the primary purified liquid by compression; isolating and collecting the isopropyl alcohol; performing thin film evaporation of the secondary purified liquid using a falling thin film evaporator to isolate and collect 1,3-propanediol and 2,3-butanediol.
