PURPOSE: A backlight unit is provided to increase heat radiation performance by overlapping one end of a substrate with one side of a heat pipe. CONSTITUTION: A light emitting device (51) provides light to an optical plate (53). The optical plate comprises a light guide plate or/and a diffusion plate. An LED module has a circuit for driving the light emitting device. A heat pipe (60) releases heat generated from the LED module. The heat of the LED module is directly transmitted to one side of the heat pipe.
