Provided is a rotating electric machine that is capable of ensuring insulation between a coil end and an inner wall of a housing or of a case. This rotating electric machine is equipped with a stator (230) that has: a stator core (232) that has multiple slots (24) arranged in the circumferential direction; and stator windings (238) that are constructed with an insulation-coated conductor having a rectangular cross-section and are inserted into the slots (24). The stator windings (238) have a first segment-transition bent section (241a) that is provided on the outer side in the radial direction of the stator (230) and a second segment-transition bent section (242a) that is provided on the inner side in the radial direction of the stator, and the layer-transition bent section angle (theta1) of the first segment-transition bent section (241a) is greater than the layer-transition bent section angle (theta2) of the second segment-transition bent section (242a).
