A door handle spindle 4 comprising an axle (3, fig.5) extending through a first spindle end part 1, a middle spindle part 2 and a second spindle end part (5, fig.5); the middle part having a central body 9 extending completely around the axle and at each end a segment 10, 11, which extends partially around the axle and cooperates with end segments 6 of first and second spindle parts. The combined angular distance of the cooperating angular segments of the first part and middle part is less than 360, similarly is the combined value of the second part and middle part; this provides rotational play between parts of the spindle allowing independent rotation of door handles mounted on first and second spindle parts. The segments of first and second parts may be half segments and the segments of the middle part may be quarter segments.
