<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control valve for variable displacement compressor making force in a valve opening direction and force in a valve closing direction by coolant pressure applied on a valve rod equal, and then becoming hard to receive a bad influence on control by the coolant pressure acting on the valve rod. <P>SOLUTION: The control valve for variable displacement compressor comprises the valve rod 15 having an upper side shaft portion 15c, a valve element portion 15a with a larger diameter than the upper shaft portion 15c, and a lower side shaft portion 15d with a same diameter as the upper side shaft portion 15c; and a valve chamber 21 provided with a valve port 22 to which the valve element portion 15a connects/disconnects. The control valve for variable displacement compressor is provided with an upper side guiding hole 9A in which the upper side shaft portion 15c is inserted, and a lower side guiding hole 19B in which the lower side shaft portion 15d is inserted. A valve body 20 is equipped, which is provided with a discharging pressure port 25 for introducing discharging pressure Pd and a control pressure port 26 for supplying control pressure Pc to a crank chamber on both sides over the valve port 22.
