The backpack has adjustable chest and waist straps provided with two Zipper (RTM: slide fastener) pockets. Openings are provided in a sleeve (5) to pass the legs (3) of a dog (4), so as to prevent the dog from moving or jumping from the backpack, where straps for the sleeve containing the dog are adjustable in height to adapt the sleeve closest to the dog. A banana shaped pocket is provided in the bottom of a dorsal part of the backpack, where the sleeve is arranged to be removed or replaced.
