The nitrogen oxide sensor has a solid electrolyte base with an electrolyte (3), which is connected with two electrodes (1,2) on a substrate carrier (4). A heater (5) is connected with the substrate carrier. The electrolyte is formed of nitrate material containing mixture of alkali and/or alkaline earth nitrates. The electrodes are formed of additives, gold or ceramics. An independent claim is included for method for producing nitrogen oxide sensor.
