Provided is a paper-money processing device in which it is possible to define a reject route that does not overlap a route for conveying paper money from a paper-money storing unit to a paper-money recognition unit. This paper-money processing device comprises: a discharge port from which paper money is discharged; a paper-money recognition unit that recognizes whether the paper money is normal or not; and a storage-only storing unit that stores paper money recognized as abnormal by the paper-money recognition unit. Of a first route, which is between the paper-money recognition unit and the storage-only storing unit and on the side of the discharge port, and a second route which is on the opposite side from said first route, one or more paper-money storing units into/from which paper money can be stored/paid out are provided only on the side of said second route.
