The motor car (1) has side impact carrier structure (7) that is arranged in a door portion (3). The side impact carrier structure is provided with a drawstring consisting of a fabric tape. Support plates are connected at opposite ends of the fabric tape. The fabric tape of the drawstring forming an inner layer of the carrier structure is surrounded completely by a foamed portion which forms a middle layer. A carrier casing is set to form an exterior layer of the carrier structure. The support plates are not covered by the foamed portion.
