The invention relates to a composition for stabilising silicon particles in an aqueous medium, wherein the composition comprises an organic acid having 1 - 8 carbon atoms, a secondary aliphatic monoalcohol having 3 - 8 carbon atoms or a tertiary aliphatic monoalcohol having 4 - 8 carbon atoms and an aliphatic alcohol having 2 or more hydroxy groups and having 2 - 8 carbon atoms. The invention further relates to the use of said composition as an additive in an aqueous medium containing silicon particles, and to a method for stabilising silicon particles in aqueous media.
