摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin optical film, which shows a high optical compensatory function and can be stably manufactured even in continuous production. <P>SOLUTION: The optical film comprises an optically anisotropic layer 14 comprising a discotic liquid crystal fixed into a hybrid alignment, an adhesion layer 12 having no aligning controllability, and a substrate 10, in this order. The hybrid alignment is conditioned in such a manner that an angle defined by a director of the discotic liquid crystal in a region close to an interface with air and the normal to the film is larger than an angle defined by a director of the discotic liquid crystal in the vicinity of an interface with the adhesion layer and the normal to the film.
