<p>A seatbelt retractor is provided with: a ratchet gear which is inserted in a through-hole formed in one side wall of a housing and which rotates together with a winding drum; a pretensioner mechanism which rotates the winding drum in the webbing winding direction during a collision of the vehicle; and a pawl which has one end supported in a pivotable manner on the inner peripheral edge of the through-hole in the axial direction and which is configured so that, in an emergency, the pawl is caused to pivot to cause an engagement tooth formed at the other end of the pawl to engage with the ratchet gear. The housing has a cutout having a predetermined depth up to the outside of the pivoting direction of the pawl from a peripheral edge which faces a portion on the other end side. The pawl is configured in such a manner that the portion thereof which is on the other end side protrudes in the thickness direction in such a manner that the portion can move within the cutout. In a normal state, the portion of the pawl which is on the other end side is located in the vicinity of a side edge which is located deep inside the cutout.</p> |
