A location registration method in a mobile communication system and a system therefor are provided to exactly maintain a location registration state of an MS(Mobile Station) in the mobile communication system, thereby improving a receiving success rate of a receiving call. An MS(110) moves between registration areas consisting of plural cells, respectively. VLR(Visitor Location Registers)(150,152) store location information on the MS(110) by responding to location registration of the MS(110), and remove the location information when predetermined time elapses. BTSs(Base Transceiver Subsystems)(120,122) connect the MS(110) with the VLRs(150,152). When entering the first registration area, the MS(110) stores the first location information in a location information list, stores the second location information of the second registration area when entering the second area, and starts the first timer for the first location information. If the first timer expires, the MS(110) removes the first location information from the list, and decides whether the current location information of the MS(110) is included in the list. If not, the MS(110) performs location registration to the VLRs(150,152) through the BTSs(120,122) according to the current location information. |
