<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient structure which bears a larger load with few structural materials or allows a higher structure to be built from the same structural material, and ultimately to provide a building at low cost. <P>SOLUTION: A pressure membrane composite structure, which is a composite structure of a pressure membrane structure having an internal pressure and a rigid structure, has an effect to increase load bearing capacity by an amount equivalent to the load shared by the pressure membrane compared to the rigid structure alone. Furthermore, the pressure membrane composite structure allows for a much lighter structure than the rigid structure, so that the whole structure weight can be reduced.
