According to one embodiment of the present invention, a method for managing a connection in an M2M platform includes: a step of receiving from an M2M application event management information that directs setup, conversion, query, or deletion of an event for connection management of an M2M gateway or an M2M device; a step of recording, converting, or deleting the event management information according to the directions; a step of transmitting to the M2M gateway or the M2M device event information that directs setup, conversion, or deletion of the event when the event management information directs setup, conversion, or deletion of the event; and a step of receiving a processing result from the M2M gateway or the M2M device and transmitting the processing result to the M2M application, wherein the processing result includes an event notification of the M2M gateway or the M2M device when the event management information directs setup or conversion of the event, the event management information is controlled by a connection management service capability that is a service function provided at the M2M platform by the M2M gateway or the M2M device.
