The present sensor is provided with bypassing portions such as a protruded portion (608) and a recessed portion (508) on the side wall (408) of a cavity (308). A biological sample spot-applied to an inlet (52) is drawn into the cavity (308) by capillarity. When the amount of the biological sample is insufficient, the biological sample is prevented from moving forward or it takes longer time for the biological sample to reach a detection electrode (33) due to the protruded portion (608) and the recessed portion (508), whereby a user can ensure there is time for further providing an additional biological sample before false detection takes place.
