413,518. Separating gases by liquefaction. GES. FUR LINDE'S EISMASCHINEN AKT.-GES., H÷llriegelskreuth, near Munich, Germany. Sept. 7, 1933, No. 24841. Convention date, Sept. 8, 1932. [Class 8 (ii).] In the production of krypton &c. from crude atmospheric oxygen obtained by rectification, the rectification of the liquid oxygen is interrupted when a certain degree of enrichment in hydrocarbons is reached, or a proportion of the liquid oxygen is continuously withdrawn, and the hydrocarbons are removed by adsorption, catalytic combustion &c. and the oxygen containing krypton &c. is returned to the cycle. When a sufficient concentration is attained the krypton &c. are separated by rectification or by fractional evaporation either under vacuum or by the passage of helium or neon through the liquid. Oxygen from several sources may be treated in a central plant.
