<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device for a projector having high light utilization efficiency and high color reproducibility. <P>SOLUTION: A light source device for a projector comprises: three colored-ray light source parts which temporally divide a colored-ray X, a colored-ray Y, and a colored-ray Z into two respectively to form a first divided colored-ray by p wave and a second divided colored-ray by s wave, and switch to a light path different with each other to emit the colored-ray; a first color composition optical member which compounds the first divided colored-rays and a second color composition optical member which compounds the second divided colored-rays; a first spatial modulation element on which composition light from the first color composition optical member is made incident and from which a first optical image is emitted and a second spatial modulation element on which composition light from the second color composition optical member is made incident and from which a second optical image is emitted; an optical image composition mechanism which combines the first optical image with the second optical image; and a composed optical image projection mechanism which projects a composed optical image. Two or more colored-rays out of the colored-rays X, Y and Z can be projected simultaneously in each temporally continued section of each frame of an image to be displayed. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
