The method involves detecting objects in the environment of a vehicle (F). A series of object points are associated with location coordinates so as to represent the range of values of steering angles. The steering angle pair is determined for each object point based on the steering angles which are set on the steering wheel of the vehicle. The amount of all ranges between the pairs of steering angles of the individual object points is determined as the steering angle range.
