PURPOSE: Envelope extraction with a reduced bandwidth for power modulation s provided to extract an RF envelope of high bandwidth using a low bandwidth calculation approach with improved power efficiency. CONSTITUTION: An envelope detector(220) receives an encoded symbol from a digital data modulator. The envelope detector estimates transmission power information which is related to the encoded symbol. A peak detector(221) receives the transmission power information and detects peak transmission power from two or more successive data points of the received transmission power information. The peak detector supplies a power control signal which represents the detected peak transmission power. The digital data modulator includes quadrature amplitude modulator(QAM). The encoded symbol includes an in-phase component and a quadrature phase component.
