PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to directly connect a pixel electrode with a drain electrode of a thin film transistor wherein a gate insulating layer is formed between a gate electrode and the pixel electrode. CONSTITUTION: A pixel electrode(400) is formed on a gate insulating layer and is directly connected to a drain electrode. A thin film transistor protecting layer(350) covers only portions except for a portion of a thin film transistor to which the pixel electrode is connected. The thin film transistor protecting layer protects the thin film transistor. A common electrode(500) and a gate electrode are formed on a substrate. The common electrode forms an electric field with the pixel electrode. The gate insulating layer is formed between the common electrode and the pixel electrode. |
