<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a doubly tuned RF resonator where field homogeneity and efficiency is optimized. <P>SOLUTION: An RF resonator has a birdcage resonator with two electrically conducting ring elements and N electrically conducting conductor bars 11, where N is even and larger than 4. Each ring element is electrically connected with all of the N conductor bars 11. At least one pair of electrically conducting ring segments 32a, 32b are provided such that the pair of ring segments 32a, 32b are separated from each other with respect to the Z-axis and form an additional electrical connection between two of the conductor bars 11 as well as a current path. The current path is capacitively interrupted at at least one point, and the ring segments 32a, 32b and the conductor bars 11 connected electrically to the ring segments 32a, 32b are placed symmetrically with respect to the yz-plane. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
