<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal processing apparatus and a signal processing method capable of performing up-conversion processing of a plurality of components in an efficient procedure in the case of performing up-conversion (quality improvement) of content data composed of the plurality of the components. <P>SOLUTION: In a signal processing apparatus, an up-conversion processing unit 113 performs up-conversion (quality improvement) processing of content data stored in a data storage unit 110.
