<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in which, when an object placed on a base surface is photographed from above, it is photographed in a state where, for example, a paper surface of a book is curved, so that it is photographed in a distorted state. <P>SOLUTION: A predetermined subject can be placed on a base surface, and photographing on the base surface is performed by a camera unit from plural positions higher than the base surface. Then, a distortion correction parameter calculation unit calculates a surface shape of the subject placed on the base surface based on image data photographed at the plural positions, and calculates a parameter for restoring the surface shape to a planar state. Then, an image data distortion correction calculation unit performs conversion into planar image data obtained by reducing distortion generated in the image data based on the calculated distortion correction parameter.
