VECTOR WAVE RECORDING MEDIUM AND MULTIPLE RECORDING/REPRODUCTION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vector wave recording medium without necessity to perform scheduling and thus free of risk of deterioration in transfer rate on a recording system, and a multiple recording/reproduction method thereof.

SOLUTION: A vector wave recording medium having an information recording layer made of a photoinduced birefringent material is irradiated with recording signal light of a first polarization state and recording reference light of a second polarization state different from the first polarization state, and vector wave multiple recording is holographically performed to the information recording layer. Assuming that the irradiation energy of the recording signal light and the recording reference light is constant and the maximum value and the minimum value of the diffraction efficiency of reproduction signal light from each diffraction grating corresponding to each recording information in the information recording layer after performing the vector wave multiple recording is holographically performed to the information recording layer are ηmax and ηmin respectively, the vector wave recording medium is set to satisfy a following relation: ηmin/ηmax≥0.1.
